HOT START: Both teams opened their respective outdoor seasons with a bang at last weekend's Maryland Invitational.
Senior Ryan Tucker set a new men's outdoor program record in the 1500-meter run, smashing his own record in 3:53.10. Six additional competitors set new personal records in the 1500m - sophomore Ryan DePinto (3:53.41), sophomore Charles Arnold (4:05.63), freshman Andrew Weber (4:07.78), junior Seamus Roddy (4:09.74) and senior Jack McCabe (4:27.42)
On the women's side, sophomore Miranda DiBiasio set a new personal-best time by running the 1500m in 4:53.42, to lead a sextet of Colonials in the event.
THE COMPETITION: A total of 63 collegiate institutions, including 43 in Division I, will be in action at the three-day event. Among this weekend's competing teams are regional rivals American, Charlotte, Christopher Newport, Georgetown, UMBC, VCU, Virginia Tech and Towson.
EVENTS: Both the men's and women's teams will compete in a quartet of events over the weekend - the 3,000-meter run, 3,000-meter steeplechase, the 5,000-meter run and the distance medley relay.
Junior Ariana North was named an Atlantic 10 All-Conference performer in the steeplechase last season and will compete in the event for the first time this season on Saturday.
