LEADING OFF: George Washington's men's and women's track teams will return to the two-day Morgan State Legacy Meet this weekend. GW will open competition in both the men's and women's 3,000-meter steeplechase on Friday, followed by a full slate of events on Saturday.
LAST TIME OUT: Both teams enjoyed successful appearances at the Johns Hopkins/Loyola Invitational last weekend.
The men placed 10th out of 17 competing teams, breaking a pair of program records along the way. Sophomores Chris Shaffer (1:57.45 in the 800m) and Joseph Verghese (23.95 in 200m) both set new school marks, while sophomore Ryan DePinto defeated 45 competitors to win the 5000m in 14:54.55. The men also had five runners set new personal records in the 1500m.
On the women's side, freshman Halley Brown broke the program's 1500m record with a time of 4:43.63, and a number of her teammates set new personal bests in a variety of events.
A-10 RANKS: Sophomore Miranda DiBiasio currently owns the Atlantic 10's fourth-fastest 5000m time this season after she ran 17:16.83 at the Colonial Relays earlier this month. Junior Ariana North also ranks in the top 20 in the event with her time of 17:44.07 at last weekend's Hopkins/Loyola Invite (14th in A-10).
North also owns the 12th-fastest 3000m steeplechase after posting a time of 11:24.56 at the Mason Spring Invitational.

He also sits ninth in the conference for the 1500m with a time of 3:53.10 at the Maryland Invitational. DePinto's time of 3:53.41 in the 1500m ranks him 11th in the conference.
