WASHINGTON -- George Washington men's and women's cross country head coach Terry Weir has announced that the Colonials will co-host the DCXC/GW Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 26, at Kenilworth Park in Washington, D.C.

The Colonials have also added the George Mason Invitational to their fall schedules. The event, in Leesburg, Virginia, will be held on Saturday, Oct. 3.

The DCXC/GW Invitational marks the first home event hosted by the GW cross country program since 2005.

"Washington, D.C., is a wonderful urban running environment but it also has some beautiful open spaces such as Kenilworth Park," said Coach Weir. "We are proud to partner with Pacers Running to bring a collegiate cross country race to Washington, D.C., with the DCXC/GW Invitational. It is going to be a great opportunity for our student-athletes to compete in our city as we continue the road to the Atlantic 10 Championship."

Teams scheduled to compete in the 5,000-meter collegiate races are GW, American, Catholic and Howard.

Kenilworth Park is located in Northeast Washington, across the Anacostia River from the National Arboretum. The 5,000-meter course features slight up-and-down hills in the opening mile before giving way to turns and dips that will challenge runners throughout the remainder of the course.

Additional information and teams will come at a later date.
