GW Cross Country Opens Training Camp
Colonials Head to West Virginia for Four Days
WASHINGTON - George Washington men's and women's cross country and track teams are currently participating in a four-day training camp at Ace Adventure Resort in Minden, West Virginia, in preparation for the 2015-16 running calendar.
"The purpose of this trip is to get a few days of uninterrupted training in and to serve as a team-building experience," said assistant coach Chelsea France. "With a large recruiting class coming in, it is very important to us that we are creating cohesiveness early in the season while working to get everyone into a consistent routine."
Ace Adventure Resorts, located in Fayette County, West Virginia, is a sprawling 1,500-acre resort located within the New River Gorge. Unique geological surfaces along a network of trails will serve as a good training location as the Colonials prepare to open the 2015 cross country season at the Mount St. Mary's Duals on September 4.
"Throughout the trip, team rules and expectations will be drawn out along with setting goals that we want to accomplish this year," added Coach France. "It will be a great way for all of our athletes to get to know each other and for our staff to get to know the student-athletes on an individual level."
