LEADING OFF: George Washington's men's and women's cross country teams will compete in their final meets of the regular season this weekend when they run at the Princeton Invitational on Saturday morning at the West Windsor Fields.
The women's 6,000-meter race will begin at 9:00 a.m., followed by the men's 8,000-meter installment at 9:45.
THE FIELD: American, Binghamton, Columbia, Harvard, Hofstra, Iona, La Salle, Loyola (Md.), Marist, Maryland, UMES, McNeese State, Monmouth, NJIT, Penn, Princeton, Rider, Sacred Heart, Saint Joseph's, Stony Brook, UMBC, UNC Greensboro.
LAST TIME OUT: Both teams competed at the massive Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh University on October 1.
On the women's side, junior Miranda DiBiasio placed 51st overall out of 404 competitors to lead the Colonials to a tie for 23rd place out of 45 programs. Her 6K time of 20:53 was a personal best and the top Atlantic 10 student-athlete performance of the day.
On the men's side, four harriers set new personal records in the 8K distance, led by junior Ryan DePinto, as the Colonials finished 31st among 38 teams. DePinto tallied his third consecutive top team finish when he finished 119th overall with a new personal-record time of 25:07. Senior Jordan Pantalone (25:16), junior Carter Day (25:22) and Charles Arnold (25:58) also set new personal records.
REGIONALLY RANKED: The women's team enters the weekend ranked No. 13 in the Mid-Atlantic Region of the latest United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Regional Poll.
It marks the third-ever regular-season regional ranking for the women's team. The Colonials found themselves ranked No. 12 in the September 14 poll of last season. GW was previously ranked No. 15 in the final rankings of the 2012 season.
PERSONAL BESTS: In addition to the aforementioned quartet of men's harriers and DiBiasio on the women's side, a number of other non-freshmen runners have set new personal records over the course of the regular season.
