Oct. 31, 2017

WASHINGTON - George Washington women's cross country freshman Margaret Coogan, along with men's cross country rookie Jackson Cronin, were named to the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team on Tuesday afternoon.

The All-Rookie teams are comprised of the top seven men's and women's freshmen at this past weekend's Atlantic 10 Cross Country Championship at Oatlands Plantation in Leesburg, Virginia.

"Both Margaret and Jackson had tremendous races on Saturday on a very difficult course," said head coach Terry Weir. "I'm excited for them both to be included in this group of talented rookies."

Coogan, who had never competed in cross country prior to this season, set a new personal record in the 5,000-meter race with a time of 19:30.00 on Saturday. She finished in 64th place overall out of 129 competitors.

Cronin was the third freshman to finish the men's 8,000-meter race. He logged a time of 26:25.70 to finish in 37th place and helped contribute to GW's third-place team finish, the best showing in program history.

Both the men's and women's teams will return to action at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional on November 10 at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
