After returning to GW for his senior season, Jean Aranguren was named to the Atlantic 10 Preseason All-Conference Third Team, while the Buff & Blue were projected to finish fifth in a poll of the league's head coaches and media.
A transfer to GW in 2025-26 from Hofstra, Aranguren was a mainstay in the Buff & Blue lineup that advanced to the postseason for the second year in a row and won its first postseason game since 2017 in the opening round of the NIT at Utah Valley.
Aranguren appeared in all 35 games a season ago, making 22 starts and averaging 24.2 minutes a contest. He finished with averages of 8.2 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists, all while shooting an efficient 48.6% from the floor and 36.5% from beyond the arc. His 3.4 assists per night were good enough for seventh in the A10, and he also ranked ninth in the league in assist/turnover ratio at 1.63.
Aranguren reached double figures in 15 contests, including a season-high 20 points on two occasions. He also became just the second player in program history to record a triple-double, doing so at Duquesne with 18 points, 10 assists and 10 rebounds.
Entering the 26-27 campaign, Aranguren helps usher in a reloaded roster that features 12 newcomers, including seven Power 4 conference transfers. Picked to finish ahead of GW in the preseason coaches poll are reigning league champs VCU, along with Saint Louis, Dayton and George Mason.
The Revolutionaries open the regular season on Monday, Nov. 2, welcoming Navy to the Smith Center for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off as part of a doubleheader with GW women's basketball. Fans can purchase single-game and season tickets here.
