Entering the second year of the Coach G era, the George Washington women's basketball team was picked to finish third in the Atlantic 10 preseason poll, marking the highest selection for the program since 2018-19. Junior Gabby Reynolds (First Team) and senior Sara Lewis (Second Team) were also named to preseason all-conference squads as well.
Reynolds, who picks up her second A10 preseason all-conference selection, enters her third collegiate season as a well-rounded threat to opposing defenses. She enjoyed steady growth in all facets of her game a year ago, seeing her averages in points, rebounds, steals, blocks, field goal percentage, three-point percentage and free throw percentage all increase from year one to year two. Reynolds finished her sophomore season averaging 14.6 points, good enough for ninth in the conference, and she enters the 2026-27 season needing just 276 points to reach 1,000 for her career.
Lewis, who earns her first preseason all-conference award, is an anchor of GW's defense, bringing tenacity to both ends of the floor. She returns to the Revolutionaries for her fourth season, coming off the best year of her collegiate career in 2025-26. Lewis tallied averages of 11.2 points, a team-high 6.1 rebounds and 1.6 assists, with a 44.9% shooting percentage from the floor. She was also reliable at the charity stripe, netting 123 free throws last season, the ninth most in program history.
Reynolds and Lewis headline a group of five returners for GW this season, which includes Kamari Sims, Tanah Becker and Jaeda Wilson. The Buff & Blue also bolstered its roster with eight newcomers, including five transfers and three first-years.
Picked to finish ahead of GW in the preseason poll are Saint Joseph's, who received all 14 available first-place votes, as well as Davidson, who slotted in at number two.
GW opens the season on Nov. 2, hosting UDC for a 5:00 p.m. matchup inside the Charles E. Smith Center. Fans can purchase season and single-game tickets here.
