Baseball Shuts Out Hofstra, 7-0

Harrison Cohen strikes out eight over eight innings
Coming into the series between George Washington baseball and Hofstra, it was the Colonials' offense that was making the most noise. However, when the dust settled on Friday afternoon, the Buff & Blue's pitching was the star of the show. GW held the Pride to just four hits en route to a 7-0 win.
It didn't take long for GW starter Harrison Cohen to find his groove, as he retired nine of the first 11 batters he faced. Cohen's dominance in the early innings allowed GW's offense to settle in against Pride pitcher Mark Faello. After picking up three hits in the first two innings but failing to score, GW struck paydirt in the third. Tim Nicholson reached on a hit-by-pitch, extending his on-base streak to 12 straight games, and he later scored on an error to put George Washington up 1-0. The Colonials pushed two more runs across in the third, and gave Cohen all the run support he would need.
Over the next six innings, Cohen continued to attack Hofstra's hitters. The redshirt senior retired 14 straight batters from the third inning until the eighth, when he gave up a two-out single. Cohen would go on to retire the next batter to end his afternoon. He allowed just three hits in eight innings, while striking out eight and not allowing a walk.
Offensively, both Eddie Micheletti Jr. and Steve DiTomaso tallied three hits, while Logan Leax finished the day 2-for-2 with an RBI after replacing Tim Nicholson in the fifth inning.
Up next, George Washington will have Saturday off due to weather, before returning to the Tuck for a Sunday doubleheader against Hofstra. First pitch for game one is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Live coverage of both games is available on ESPN+.
