Five-Run Seventh Pushes Baseball Past St. Bonaventure, 10-2

ARLINGTON, Va. - George Washington baseball's offense was slowed down during the early part of Saturday afternoon's game, but a five-run seventh inning that saw the Colonials send 10 batters to the plate helped propel them to a 10-2 victory over St. Bonaventure.
GW began the contest in similar fashion to its last three games by scoring a run in the first inning. Noah Levin reached on a base hit before coming around to score on a fielding error by the Bonnies to put GW up 1-0. St. Bonaventure would eventually tie the game in the third after an RBI single, but the Buff & Blue would retake the lead with two runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Despite allowing three runs, St. Bonaventure starter Bryce Hediger kept GW's offense in check throughout his start. Hediger allowed just five hits through six, and was able to retire nine straight Colonials during the middle innings. However, St. Bonaventure went to the bullpen in the seventh, and that is when the flood gates opened.
Entering the inning only up 3-2, GW would score five runs on five hits in the frame. Logan Leax provided the big blow with a two-run single, while Derek Ripp, Mike Ludowig, and Steve DiTomaso all picked up RBIs in the inning.
In total, GW racked up double-digit base knocks for the fifth consecutive game, while four different Colonials had multi-hit afternoons. Both DiTomaso and Cade Fergus extended their hitting streaks Saturday. Fergus' streak now sits at 13 straight games, tying a career-high, while DiTomaso's streak moves to a career-high 12 games.
On the mound, Connor Harris picked up the win after allowing just two runs over six innings. GW also received strong scoreless outings from Benny Wilson and Trevor Kuncl to lock up the game late.
The Colonials will now shift their attention to Sunday, when they'll try and complete a sweep of the Bonnies. First pitch between the two sides is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. from Tucker Field.
